Creating a Color Wheel in Watercolor

We will start with our warm color wheel. Do not attempt to do both at once, as you will need the entire mixing palette by the time you finish each wheel.

  • Mix each of your 3 warm primary colors on your palette, separated by empty pans. Begin by painting each of these colors into the slots you named.
  • Find the secondary slots and mix its two primary neighbors together in exact 50% ratio in a nearby empty pan and fill in those slots.
  • For the remaining tertiary slots (T1, T2, etc), mix the primary with the secondary that straddles the empty slot in a 50% ratio and fill in appropriate slot.
