Homework and Midterm - Both Due on 3/18/25

Homework: Salt Texture

Create a full sheet landscape that uses the salt texture technique only in select areas. Perhaps the sky is filled with snow. Or maybe the water is dappled with shimmers. Ths image can be one of your own choosing: Something from your imagination. An image you find inspiring. If you are short on ideas, Download this ZIP and extract the JPGs and use one as inspiration. Chose only specific areas of your chosen scene that might benefit from these unique textures.

Midterm:

Do a painting in the style and of the subject matter of your own choosing. It can be a portrait, landscape, still life, or other subject. For those who need inspiration, you can chose among the projects found in Chapter 6 (p. 91) of our textbook. The painting should highlight a technique or techniques that you were particularly drawn to. Grades will be based on the level of complexity and challenge of the scene vs the sucess of the attempt - as well as how well suited the techniques you choose is to the given subject matter.

Additionally to the work above, you will need to bring all semester homework and any classwork listed below to class on 3/18. If for some reason you cannot attend on that day, you must make prior arrangements with instructor regarding your midterm review.
