Painting Autumn Leaves in Watercolor
|
Today we are going to spend some studio time painting one of natures little marvels. Once a year, in temperate climates, the photosynthesis machinery within tree leaves retreat into the safety of a deeper cells of the branch. What is left are the spectactular colors of autumn leaves. Watercolor is especially well suited to explore and render these gemstones of color and nuance. We will start out the class stepping into the afternoon to seek out a handful of the best examples of what are to be found around the campus. Return in 15 minutes with a mix of bright colors, gradient mixes, and muted tone to assemble into a life-sized still life. |
