Creating a Glaze Grid in Watercolor

Lay out all of your colors running from yellow to blue as shown. Using a flat brush, paint a wide stroke of solid color from one edge of page to another. Repeat side-to-side with each color in your set, spacing apart as needed to fit on your paper size. Leave a small space between colors and after filling in one whole direction with ALL your colors, let it sit for a few hours to be sure it is entirely dry...

Come back to it and do the same in a 90 degree direction, crossing each color at a right-angle. Be sure not to scrub when laying down this 2nd set of stokes to avoid bleeding from below. Write the name of each tube you used along one side of the diagram. The result will show glaze overlay of color-on-color that will suggest how you can use glazes to add new colors into a scene.
