Examples of artwork will be studied. Various techniques and visual styles will be studied and deconstructed. Students will create a series of watercolor paintings and one Final Project.

Classwork

The Fall '21 semester will be taught in person. This will include the class website, group emails, and additional resources that may be introduced along the way. Demos may be recorded and posted for later review. The format for our Zoom meetings will typically involve an opening discussion, a lecture or technique demo, and studio time during which you will work on classwork. A final review of the classwork will wrap each class meeting.

Weather permitting, we may have 1 or 2 outdoor sessions together in earlier stage of the semester to learn the art of Plein Air painting.

Homework

Expect to budget approximately two to three hours of time for homework exercises each week. There will be a Midterm Review and a Final Review. Students should keep ALL exercises and homework projects uploaded online through the final portfolio review and the posting of grades.

Questions on homework can be sent to my e-mail address (posted on the main class page) and will be answered as promptly as possible. My office hours are on Tuesdays, between 12:00 and 1:00 PM - by prior appointment only.
