Rendering Surfaces and Volume

The previous renderings were done using these exact layers. When rendering a form in Photoshop, a solid approach is to include all of these elements. One can start out by laying down the local color first. Then - with each placed on separate layers - introduce cast shadows, tonal modeling, and highlights as needed. Another approach would see all of the form defined by tonal modeling before layer(s) of color are applied. If necessary, textures and reflections should each be rendered onto their own layer. The righthand, shiny sphere included two reflection layers in addition to what is shown above.
