a) Review the tutorials on Design and Composition and on Speed Painting.

b) Locate and download images (photos or paintings) that have interesting and dynamic design. Look for images that have strong contrast and bold elements.

c) Open these within Photoshop and use the speed tracing techniques I explored in my demo to develop a series of interesting and abstract design concepts. Try to be quick and stay loose with these. Use layer duplicate and be sure to always leave the original version untouched on the background layer. Consider doing more than one per image by duplicating that background layer and doing additional quick studies on fresh layers.

d) Pick one (or more) and create a B&W value sketch (as per my "desert scene" demo.)

Use this work flow to find new, unique designs to build upon.

Save all results as PSD files. JPG the scenes and share with instructor by classtime.
